In these three highly stylized films, filmmaker Sansour engages with science fiction to imagine Palestinian alternative pasts, presents, and futures, exploring utopian and dystopian realities tinted by national belonging, settler colonialism and exile. A Space Exodus (2009) depicts a female Palestinian astronaut travelling to outer space in order to claim land for her nation. Nation Estate (2012) explores a vertical solution to Palestinian's diminishing claim to land – a state within a skyscraper. In the Future, They Ate From the Finest Porcelain (2016) features a narrative resistance group burying elaborate porcelain to influence history and support future claims to their vanishing lands.
